A pool cover dance floor is a custom-built, wood-framed platform that sits over your pool. The frame distributes weight across the pool’s edges rather than into the water, so the platform stays rigid and level even with dozens of guests on it. Every cover is built specifically for your pool’s dimensions and shape — Opus has covered pools of every size and style, from standard rectangular to freeform and irregularly shaped.
Two Platform Types: Staged or Flush
Staged Platform (Most Common)
The staged option is a roughly 6″-high box or rectangle built over the pool. We maximize the usable space and minimize the step-up where possible. It’s the more affordable option and what most clients choose — clean, fast to install, and works for nearly any event.
Flush Platform
The flush option matches the exact shape of your pool and sits level with the surrounding deck. No step-up, no transition — the pool disappears into the rest of your space. More expensive than staged, but the seamless look is hard to beat for high-end events.
Surface Options
Once the platform is built, the surface is whatever you want. The basic option is turf in black or green — clean, neutral, and works for most events. From there, you can upgrade to:
- Custom-color turf — turf in any color to match your event palette
- Carpet — any color
- Vinyl — any color or style, including hardwood-look finishes
- Dance floor panels — choose from our standard dance floor catalog (various styles and colors)
- Plexiglass — our premium option. Plexiglass requires a different structural approach since aesthetics matter underneath, but the result is a clear or partially clear dance floor that lets guests dance directly above the water
Is It Safe?
Yes. Three reasons:

Installation Timeline
For most residential events, we install the platform on Wednesday or Thursday for a weekend event, and remove it on Monday or Tuesday the following week. That gives the platform plenty of time to be ready and minimizes pressure on event day. For commercial events (hotels, venues), we also do timed installs — fitting the install into a window where the pool can stay accessible as long as possible. Same-day installs are possible too if your event timing requires it — typically with an additional fee.
What Does It Cost?
Pricing depends on three things: the size of your pool, the surface material you choose, and whether you want a staged or flush platform. Plexiglass and flush platforms are the highest-end options; standard turf-on-staged is the most affordable.
