A pool is the centerpiece of your backyard — until you’re hosting 200 people for a wedding and it’s suddenly a 20×40 hole in your event space. Opus makes the pool disappear. We build a custom wood-framed platform over the water, finish it in your choice of surface, and you get back the square footage you actually need for dancing, dining, lounging, and walking. Your pool stays full the entire time. We’ve done this 80 to 100 times a year since 2014 — and in 11 years of pool covers, we’ve never damaged a pool.

How We Make a Pool Disappear

The pool itself stays untouched. We do not drain it, lower the water, or alter your filtration — your pool is exactly the way you left it before the event and exactly the way you want it after.

The platform is built on a wood-framed structure engineered for the specific dimensions and shape of your pool. Most installs happen Wednesday or Thursday for a weekend event, with removal on Monday or Tuesday. Commercial venues — hotels with rooftop pools, for example — get custom timing so the pool can stay open as long as possible before the build.

Two platform styles depending on the look you want:

• Staged platform — sits roughly 6 inches above the deck. The most common choice. Cheaper, faster, and minimizes step-up where possible. Reads as a clean rectangle over the pool.
• Flush platform — built to match the pool’s exact shape, level with the surrounding deck. The “true disappear” — guests genuinely don’t realize there’s water underneath. More custom work, higher cost, the right call when aesthetics matter.

Surface Options That Hide the Pool

Once the platform is built, the surface is where the pool actually disappears visually. Pick the finish that matches your event:

• Turf — black or green, the default and most cost-effective option
• Custom-color turf — any color you specify
• Carpet — any color
• Vinyl — any color or pattern, including hardwood-look planks
• Dance floor panels — same catalog as our standard dance floor rentals; mix and match styles
• Plexiglass — the premium choice when the cover itself is part of the design. Different structural approach since the look matters as much as the function.

Every surface is engineered for the actual use case. If you’re telling us 100 guests, we build for more than 100 — the platform is rated above your stated capacity, every time. To finish the look after dark, many hosts add event lighting around the platform edge.

Walkable, Sittable, Danceable

Every platform Opus builds is walkable. That’s not a marketing line — it’s the engineering spec. Guests can stand, sit, lounge furniture on it, dance on it. We’ve covered pools for weddings in the 300 to 400 guest range. How to Book

Send us a photo of your pool — or a Google Earth view — and we’ll send back a ballpark quote. Exact quote requires an in-person site visit. Typical lead time is six to eight weeks for the largest custom builds; sometimes we can book inside of a week depending on availability.

Booking is a 50% deposit. Cancellation within 10 days of the event forfeits the deposit; outside of 10 days, you can reschedule.
